Thanks for booking into the Active Gamers Summer program. We’re looking forward to the new program, before that please read these helpful details to make the week go smoothly for everyone.

We are located on the 1st floor of AFL ACT headquarters, 8 Spoering street, Phillip. There is plenty of parking available right in front of the building.

We open at 8:15am. You can drop off anytime between 8am and 9am without your active gamer missing any structured activities. That said, we will run an orientation for the kids on the Monday at 9:00am. You can pick up anytime between 4:00pm-5:30pm without disrupting any structured activities, if you need to pick earlier than 4:00pm, please let us know in advance if possible. Your child will need to be signed in/out at arrival/departure.

We arrange the kids in groups of around 11, where possible we try our best to place friends / siblings in the same groups as requested. Please email us (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if you have a preference for your Active Gamer to be in a group with a particular other participant. We will set the groups during the week before the program and changing the group composition after that is difficult.

Daily Timetable

In the summer program, we’ll be doing fun exercise sessions of the oval each morning with the AFL trainers and visiting the swimming pool in the afternoons. There will be a daily team building session using a different co-operative video game each day plus some time for video game free play.

Our lunches are provides by local caterer, Wattle catering. They will provide sandwiches, wraps and rolls with a mix of fresh fillings to suit a cross section of tastes and dietary requirements, prepared on the morning of service.

Healthy snacks (fresh fruit, muesli bars etc) will be available throughout the day in the main room. There is no need to bring any other food; if you wish to bring additional food we ask that it is nut-free. Water is always available.

As authorised in the registration form, we are planning to visit the squash courts each morning for around 45 minutes. There will be a range of activities available there, and provides a fun break from the screens. We’ll be walking to the swimming pool (200 meters away) in groups of up to 13 with 2 educators supervising. In accordance with our obligations, a risk assessment is available for this regular excursion on request.

What to bring

Your child should be dressed in clothing that can be worn during exercise on a warm day this should include a hat. They’ll need swimmers and a towel for the pool. If your active gamer wishes to bring their own gaming equipment (headphones, controllers, etc) they can do so at their own risk. We suggest that they are clearly labelled with a name to avoid them getting misplaced or lost. Water is readily available but we recommend that you also pack a water bottle.

What not to bring

Please do not bring any foods that contain nuts.
